Carotid angioplasty with stenting (CAS) has evolved as an alternative to carotid endarterectomy (CEA), particularly for those patients in whom CEA is associated with a higher risk of complications. This article summarizes the relative indications and limitations for CEA and CAS and describes the technique and results of CAS for cervical carotid revascularization.
