摘要
Fullerene-like and amorphous nanoparticles of CNx were prepared by arc evaporation of C in N-2 atmosphere at 10(-2)-10(-3) mbar pressure. The particles were characterised by high-resolution electron microscopy. A surface roughness attributed to CNx shell fragments and a 1-2 nm thick disordered surface layer in fullerene-like particles was found. The formation of the disordered layer and amorphisation at higher nitrogen pressures is thought to be a common origin of nitrogen incorporation and subsequent retardation of the formation of ordered fullerene-like structures.
