Anti-inflammatory therapy is very commonly prescribed in men with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, or chronic pelvic pain syndrome. This practice is based on clinical experience rather than clinical trial data. This paper reviews the evidence to support the use of anti-inflammatory therapy in chronic prostatitis, and presents some considerations for future research. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V.
