An ethylene-linked catechol/8-hydroxyquinoline derivative and its dinuclear gallium(III) complex

摘要
The ethylene-linked catechol/8-hydroxyquinoline derivative 7-H-3 is prepared in a three step procedure by Sonogashira-Hagihara coupling of (2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)acetylene (1) and 7-bromo-8-methoxyquinoline (2), followed by reduction of the alkyne and final ether cleavage. The unsymmetric type II triple-stranded dinuclear helicate M-3[Ga-2(7)(3)] (M = Na, K) is obtained with gallium(III) ions in the presence of potassium or sodium carbonate.
