The synthesis of the tetranuclear Ag-4(4+) cluster stabilized by a N-heterocyclic carbene macrocycle (3)[PF6](4). Decomposition of the tetranuclear cluster (3)[PF6](4) in light forms the dimeric species (2)[PF6](2). In situ synthesis of the dimeric silver N-hetrocyclic carbene complex (2)[Br](2) in water.
