摘要
Some of the basic principles and applications of oxygen-17 NMR spectroscopy are discussed. Researchers have significant efforts to provide information about the experimental aspects and the theoretical background that is essential to the understanding of 17O NMR and a wide range of applications with specific emphasis on those that demonstrate the unique potential of this nucleus. Emphasis is placed on the presentation of work that has demonstrated the benefits of employing 17O NMR in studies of chemical and biochemical systems. An effort is also made to define unexplored areas where 17O NMR can provide structural and dynamic information which is difficult or impossible to obtain using other techniques. Bloch's phenomenological theory to demonstrate that the spin of 17O is determined by comparing the signal amplitude and width of both oxygen-17 and deuterium nuclei whose spin is known.
