Wavelength dispersion of third-order nonlinearities in organic and glass materials

摘要
We report on the wavelength dispersion of thrid-order nonlinearities in organic and glass materials. Optical Kerr shutter (OKS) and third-harmonic generation (THG) measurements were conducted on a N,N-dimethylformamide solution of 4-(N,N-diethylamino)-beta-nitrostyrene (DEANST) and a glass containing Bi2O3. It is shown that the OKS nonlinearity is increased by the two-photon resonance as well as by the one-photon resonance. In the DEANST solution, the two-photon resonance yields the large OKS nonlinearity at around 0.9 mu m wavelength. The THG nonlinearity of the DEANST solution is found to be enhanced by the three-photon resonance. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
