Exchange bias and spin-valve structures using amorphous ferromagnetic Co65Mo2B33 layers

Exchange biasing has been observed in bilayers of amorphous ferromagnetic Co65Mo2B33 and antiferromagnetic CoO indicating new latitude in materials for exploring exchange-coupled structures. Angular dependence measurements show that the exchange held in such structures displays a simple cos theta dependence. Spin-valve structures based on a-Co65Mo2B33 and Co0.5Ni0.5O have also been made, and the expected switching and magnetoresistance characteristics have been illustrated.
