摘要
Background: According to Beck negative automatic thoughts are an important cause of depression. Objective: To determine the psychometric properties of the German-language "Questionnaire of Positive and Negative Automatic Thoughts" (QAT). Methods: With two samples of the general population (n = 352 and n = 171) and one psychiatric sample (n = 59), the reliability and validity of the QAT were tested. Results: The internal consistency of the three scales range from r = .76 and .93. All three scales together accounted for 60% variance after VARIMAX rotation. Depending on whether of depressive, manic, and anxious symptoms are present there are different patterns of positive and negative automatic thoughts on the QAT scales. Conclusions: The QAT seems to be an economic and reliable instrument for measuring positive and negative automatic thoughts.
