Phase-shifting shearing interferometry with a variable polarization grating recorded on Bacteriorhodopsin

摘要
We describe a novel lateral shearing interferometer based on the wavelength dependent polarization recording properties of the Bacteriorhodopsin. The key point is to project a polarization grating on the Bacteriorhodopsin utilizing the super-position of external green laser beams whose relative phase is modulated by means of an electrooptic device. Thus, the phase-shifting can be controlled without moving parts inside the shearing interferometer, which contributes to the mechanical stability of the system. Amount and direction of the shear can be also externally controlled with the green laser beams. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
