Yield strength anomaly in B2-ordered feal alloys: Role of boron

摘要
The yield strength anomaly (YSA) is observed in B-free and B-doped Fe40Al alloys. A small addition of B shifts the YS peak 200 °C and 175 MPa higher than that for the B-free alloy. In the domain of YSA, no sensitivity to the strain rate is observed, suggesting that any modeling of this phenomenon may be built on the basis of an exhaustion/multiplication approach. The outlines of such a model are proposed. The strong effect of boron on YSA is explained by the B-induced slowing down of dislocations, shifting the temperatures to higher values at which the 〈110〉 and 〈100〉 dislocations become mobile.
