Cerebral blood flow and energy metabolism in the newborn

摘要
The focus of this article is on the results of quantitative studies in human infants. The cerebral blood flow (CBF) and metabolic rate is low in newborn infants. The regulation of CBF appears largely normal in healthy term and preterm infants. CBF and metabolic abnormalities in hypo-and hypertension and hypoglycemia after asphyxia and intracranial hemorrhage and during seizures are discussed. This article reviews current clinical research methods.
