2-Artimoaryl ketones undergo condensation with alpha-methylene ketones in the presence of a catalytic amount of Y(OTf)(3) at room temperature under mild conditions to afford the corresponding polysubstituted quinolines in excellent yields. (C) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
