Transition-metal-mediated dearomatization reactions

A review of the literature covering transition-metal-mediated dearomatization chemistry is presented. It is shown that the use of chromium, manganese, and osmium provides rapid access to compounds which otherwise require long and tedious manipulations. A methodology is introduced, that can be used to synthesize complex organic products with high regio-, chemo-, stereo-, and often enantioselectivity.
