Characterization of (24R)-24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 monoglucuronides formed from a rat liver microsomal fraction using high-performance liquid chromatography and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry

The characterization of (24R)-24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-3 monoglucuronides obtained from an in vitro study was performed using high-performance liquid chromatography and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In the presence of rat liver microsomal fraction and uridine-5'-diphosphoglucuronic acid, (24R)-24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-3 gave 3- and 24-glucuronides as the main products in almost equal amounts, but only a small amount of the corresponding 25-glucuronide was obtained. The glucuronides were identified by comparison with three positional isomers of standard synthetic samples, syntheses of which are briefly described, based on their chromatographic behavior and mass spectral data.
