Determination of the anisotropic refractive indices of twisted nematic liquid crystals by means of renormalized transmission ellipsometry

摘要
The anisotropic refractive indices of nematic liquid crystal filled in the conventional twisted nematic liquid crystal device (TN LCD) were investigated by renormalized transmission ellipsometry (RTE). From the numerical simulation, it is confirmed that the cell gap and twist angle as well as the anisotropic refractive indices can be determined by RTE simultaneously. The refractive indices were experimentally determined,by RTE with a TN LCD. The importance of the adjustment of the sample's angular position inside the ellipsometry instrument is also noted.
