Two-ion logic gates open the way to further advances in quantum computing

摘要
The role of two-ion logic gates in the advances in quantum computing is discussed. The operations required to construct a sophisticated algorithm on a quantum computer includes a simple rotation of the qubit and a two-qubit gate with conditional logic. One of the qubit is based on the nuclear spin within single molecules in a liquid sample. The spin states are measured by nuclear magnetic resonance techniques.
