摘要
This brief overview has described the well-established mechanisms and physiological functions of ER as well as the frontiers of study that continue to illustrate new details of the mechanisms of action and roles of ER as an important transcriptional modulator. Future investigation promises continuing advances that are eagerly awaited and will have many important applications in diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of reproduction and cancers of reproductive tissues.
