GAS-PHASE COLLISION-INDUCED DISSOCIATION OF HIGHLY EXCITED NO2

摘要
The gas-phase collision-induced dissocation (CID) of highly excited NO2 with argon has been observed in a crossed beams experiment. The dissociation yield as a function of the initial NO2 excitation energy is reported. The structure of the CID signal is similar to that observed in the fluorescence excitation spectrum of NO2, and the scaling of energy transfer can be described by an exponential decay law. NO is detected state selectively using laser ionization, and state distributions are determined.
