摘要
Difficulties with error estimation and mesh-placement methods are demonstrated for a chemotaxis boundary-value problem. An improved algorithm is introduced to locate and accurately represent steep concentration fronts over many orders of magnitude. The Taylor collocation method, applied to high-order ODEs, provides lower truncation errors, smaller matrices and less round-off error than the Lagrange collocation method. This is demonstrated for singular-perturbation and chemotaxis boundary-value problems.
