摘要
A new modification of YFeO3 crystallizes at low temperatures from an amorphous material prepared by the hydrolysis of yttrium and iron double alkoxides. It has a hexagonal unit cell with a = 0.3511 nm and c = 1.172 nm. Hexagonal YFeO3 transforms to the orthorhombic form at elevated temperatures. Solid solutions of hexagonal YFeO3 crystallize between 50 and 62.5 mole percent Fe2O3. The compound Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) is formed by transformation of the solid solution.
