Molecular complex design: Bridging the tetrakiscarboxylatodirhodium core

摘要
The preparation, X-ray structure determination and catalytic activity of the first bridged tetracarboxylatodirhodium complex are described. The bridging diacid ligand was designed using computational techniques. This is the first report of a tetrakiscarboxylato metal-metal dimer having two of the ligating carboxylato groups connected by an organic bridge. The bridged dimer very actively (1610 turnovers) catalyzes the cyclization of a long chain alpha-diazo beta-keto ester to the corresponding cyclopentane.
