FORMATION AND REDUCTION OF NICKEL(II)HYDROXIDE ON RANEY-NICKEL ELECTRODES AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE HYDROGEN OVERVOLTAGE

摘要
The oxidation-reduction behaviour of Raney-nickel electrodes prepared by the codeposition technique was studied by cyclic voltammetry in alkaline solution. The influence of Ni(OH)2 on the hydrogen overvoltage of the electrodes was investigated and it was found that even the hardly reducible beta-Ni(OH)2 was reduced at least partially during hydrogen evolution.
