摘要
Laser frequency synthesis using partially degenerated four-wave mixing (FWM) is proposed. The frequency stabilities of two input lightwaves are transferred to the third lightwave generated by FWM. The largest frequency-difference among the three lightwaves is twice that between the inputs. Cascading n stages multiplies the frequency-difference by 2n. By using FWM in a 26-km single-mode optical fiber, 50-GHz offset frequency stabilization of diode lasers is demonstrated in a 1.55-mum frequency synthesizer system based on an HCN absorption line.
