TRIBOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR OF DIAMOND-LIKE CARBON COATINGS AT HIGH-RATES OF SLIDING

摘要
The comparative investigation of tribological characteristics of diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings and hard coatings such as Al2O3, TiN and WC in conditions of high sliding speeds in various gaseous atmospheres-air, helium, hydrogen and vacuum-have been performed. It is shown that the friction pair DLC-TiN exhibits the most wear resistance while retaining low friction coefficient. No influence of the gas medium or vacuum on the wear of the above-mentioned coatings was observed. DLC can be recommended for use for friction parts in high speed friction units of different mechanisms.
