摘要
Diffusible mitotic inhibitors are assumed to govern proliferation of normal cells. Cancer cells may escape regulation by failing to recognize or secrete inhibitors. In the latter case, probabilities and expected times for reaching a critical clone size are given. Patterns of proliferation will depend on whether the inhibitor concentration is locally or systemically determined.
