IMPROVEMENT OF THE PARAMETRIC SIMULATION OF ENERGY-LEVELS IN ERBIUM COMPOUNDS

摘要
The crystal field calculation of Er2+ (4f11) compounds is improved if the value of the reduced matrix element (H-2(2) parallel-to U(4) parallel-to H-2(2)) is multiplied by 1.6. The influence of the modification is felt by all the levels with J = 9/2 and 11/2 which are strongly mixed with the H-2(2)11/2 levels by spin-orbit interaction. A comparison is made with a similar phenomenon occurring in Nd3+ compounds.
