PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF RF-SPUTTERED THIN-FILMS OF LI2O-P2O5-NB2O5 GLASSES

Lithium ion conducting thin films of various compositions have been prepared using rf-sputtering technique in the Li2O:P2O5:Nb5O5 glassy system. Ionic conductivity values of the order of sigma = 1.5 x 10(-5) OMEGA- cm- at 100-degrees-C have been measured for the composition 67.5Li2O:28.3P2O5:4.2Nb2O5. Electrochemical measurements have been performed to determine the electronic conductivity and the decomposition potential of the films. Results are discussed and compared with the bulk composition.
