MULTIFRACTAL WAVE-FUNCTIONS AND INELASTIC-SCATTERING IN THE INTEGER QUANTUM HALL-EFFECT

摘要
We consider inelastic scattering near the Landau band center of an integer quantum Hall effect system where the electronic eigenstates are multifractal. It is explicitly shown that the generalized fractal dimension D2 enters into the temperature dependence of the energy loss rate for hot electrons, P is similar to T(e)3+eta/2 - T(L)3+eta/2, via a universal exponent eta = 2 - D2 characterizing the eigenfunction correlations. The inelastic rate 1/tau(in) due to electron-phonon interactions shows a novel behavior approximately T(p) with p = 4 in the low and 1 + eta/2 < p less-than-or-equal-to 2 + eta/2 in the intermediate temperature range.
