Infra-red stimulated luminescence (IRSL) ages are reported for Holocene colluvial, lacustrine and alluvial sediments and late glacial loess. For colluvial sediments IRSL ages concur with independent ages. Age overestimation occur in the case of very poorly bleached sediments such as young (less than 2000 years) floodloams, for which a high suspended sediment load was deduced from sedimentation rates and actually observed floods. Age underestimates are observed for late glacial loess, probably due to inadequate preheat procedures.
