摘要
Two different mechanisms appear to govern the adsorption of aurocyanide onto polydiallylamine (PDAA) depending on the extent of protonation of the resin. Below pH 13, the aurocyanide anion reacts with the proton of the resin, losing HCN and resulting in a monocyano species bound to the amine group. At least 20% of the loaded gold remains on PDAA as Au metal after elution with strong base, showing that the decomposition of AuCN to Au also proceeds to a significant extent. Above pH 13, ion-pair extraction takes place on the free-base amine groups. Thus, PDAA's anomalous gold adsorption properties, reported previously by other authors, can now be explained.
