摘要
A new compact source of nitrogen atoms has been developed. The application of an axial magnetic field provided by permanent magnets and up to 200 W of 2.45 GHz microwave power has enabled a high degree of dissociation to be achieved. Dissociation fractions ranging from 0.6 to 0.12 have been obtained with atom beam densities from 2 x 10(12) to 10 X 10(12) cm(-3) respectively.
