摘要
Rutherford backscattering in combination with C-12(d,p(o)) C-13 nuclear reaction has been applied to understand the high wear resistance of tool steel after implantation of carbon ions. Slant deuteron incidence and glancing proton detection enables the called nuclear reaction for carbon depth profiling within a 200 nm thick near surface layer structure. Carbon ion beam assisted deposition of carbon together with carbon/substrate ion beam mixing was observed.
