Theoretical equations describing linear potential scan voltammetric and potential-step chronoamperometric methods have been derived for the electrode reaction m O + n e - half-arrow-right-over-half-arrow-left q R. In accordance conditions relevant to the oxygen reduction process "1" in molten Li + Na carbonates, reported in Part 1, diffusion control, a planar geometry of the electrode and the simultaneous presence of both O and R species at equilibrium at t = 0 have been assumed. The cases m = q 1 and m = 1, q = 2 are discussed in detail, including numerical solutions. Diagnostic criteria and methods enabling the determination of the parameter c(o)*D(o)1/2/c(R)*D(R)1/2 from experimental data, as well as the distinction between these two cases, are given.
