摘要
Stable electrochromic variable light transmission devices have a battery-like structure with two reversible redox electrodes operating optically in series. An empirical model is put forth in which the electrochemical and optical properties of these two electrodes are combined to predict the optical attenuation range and the safe operating voltage as a function of thickness of each material and its initial oxidation level when the device is fabricated. An electrochromic window employing the complementary electrochromic pair WO3 and IrO2 is used as an example.
