THE THERMOLYSIS OF POLY(METHYL METHACRYLATE) IN THE PRESENCE OF PHENYLTIN CHLORIDES PH(X)SNCL(4-X) (X=1-3)

摘要
The thermal degradation of poly(methyl methacrylate) in the presence of the three phenyltin chlorides, PhSnCl(3), Ph(2)SnCl(2), and Ph(3)SnCl, has been studied and a complete mechanistic interpretation of the reaction is provided. Only a little monomeric methyl methacrylate is produced in the reaction and a significant amount of the starting polymer is converted to a non-volatile, cross-linked tin ester.
