GENERAL PREDICTION OF STATISTICALLY MEAN GROWTH-RATES OF A CRYSTAL COLLECTIVE

A simple model has been developed for the prediction of statistically mean growth rates of a crystal collective present in a crystallizer. This model is based on a new combination of equations valid for crystal growth controlled by kink diffusion and impingement and a general equation for the prediction of interfacial tensions. The mean growth rate of a crystal collective depends mainly on supersaturation, the dimensionless solubility and the volume diffusion coefficient. There is good agreement with experimental results of more than thirty systems with small molar masses of < 500 kg/kmol.
