摘要
Current and potential applications of polycrystalline diamond as a transmissive material for electromagnetic radiation are reviewed. Applications including protective or antireflection coatings on optical parts, the potential use of polycrystalline diamond as a bulk optical ceramic, and of thin diamond membranes as X-ray windows and X-ray lithography masks are covered. The relations between the structural and morphological properties and the optical performance are discussed and problem areas that require further work are identified.
