We have measured a discontinuity DELTA-dlnv(e)/dT congruent-to 7 ppm/K in Young's modulus sound velocity at T(c) = 83.8 K for single crystal Bi2.2Sr1.8CaCu2Oy. The anomaly is associated with the superconducting transition. We are not able to resolve any softening in DELTA-v(e)/v(e) at T(c) within our experimental resolution of better than 1ppm. This might indicate anisotropic stress dependence of T(c) as well as possible large quadratic coupling of stress to T(c). The position of an observed peak in the internal friction Q-1 at 145 K seems not to be directly related to superconductivity.
