摘要
The electrodeposition of several types of clay from colloid or suspension has been examined. In the electron transfer necessarily occurring at the electrode, substitution of oxygen and/or metal-ion generation by ascorbate oxidation can improve the mechanical properties of the deposit. Related coagulation and mobility studies were undertaken. Microgravimetry, using a quartz microbalance electrode, shows that the clay platelets, though carrying a net negative charge, can deposit on both positive and negative electrodes (''biphoresis''), on the latter by attachment of the positive edges to the surface.
