INTENSITY NOISE OF LARGE-AREA VERTICAL-CAVITY SURFACE-EMITTING LASERS IN MULTIMODE OPTICAL-FIBER LINKS

摘要
The authors report the measurement of the relative intensity noise (RIN) of large area vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) in a multimode fibre link. It is found that the RIN of the large area VCSELs under modulation is < -120dBMz below a frequency of 1GHz and that reflection noise is significantly reduced with modulation.
