The fluorescence lifetime of single pentacene molecules in the O1 site of p-terphenyl at a temperature of 1.8 K has been measured. Individual molecules were repetitively excited by monochromatic Fourier transform limited light pulses with a duration of 9 ns. The time-correlated single-photon counting technique was employed to generate a histogram of the time distribution of the fluorescence photons emitted by single molecules.
