VISUALIZATION OF THE CONCENTRATION PROFILES IN THE LEAD-ACID-BATTERY BY MOIRE AND MULTIPLE BEAM INTERFEROMETRY

摘要
The free convection and stratification of the electrolyte in the lead-acid battery during charge has been studied by means of Moire and multiple beam interferometry. The initial concentration of the electrolyte was 2.0M of H2SO4 and the current density during charge 94.34 A m-2. Photos were taken of the resulting interference pattern and were interpreted and explained. It was shown that these interferometric techniques are a good way to obtain the concentration profiles between the electrodes and thereby to understand the free convection pattern in the lead-acid battery.
