ANGULAR-DEPENDENCE OF DIPOLE SCATTERING OF LOW-ENERGY ELECTRONS AT THIN AND THICK DIPOLE-ACTIVE FILMS

摘要
The angular distribution of inelastically scattered electrons has been measured with a LEED system that provides high resolution in energy and momentum simultaneously. The dipole broadening has been measured with the central dip in the forward direction, as predicted by theory. The difference between a thick dipole-active film [e.g., ZnO(1010BAR)] and a thin film (Al2O3) on Al(111) is clearly seen in the experiment.
