摘要
The azo dye Congo red (CR) was found to bind to poly(L-lysine) PLL in neutral solution by electrostatic interactions when the side chain amino groups are in the charged state. In basic aqueous solutions the binding of CR was found to result in a conformational transition of uncharged PLL, from the alpha-helix to the beta-sheet structure. The structural change arises from hydrophobic interactions between the dye and the polymer.
