MECHANISMS OF ELECTRON-IMPACT IONIZATION AT THRESHOLD

摘要
We extend previous analyses of the six-dimensional wavefunction describing threshold ionization and show that the nodal structure near the Wannier saddle can be compactly described by the nodal structure of three-dimensional molecular orbital wavefunctions and their associated quantum numbers. Independent of the Wannier assumption a mechanism is proposed by which only certain states of LS-pi are expected to dominate at threshold.
