DYNAMIC DETERMINATION OF THE DENDRITIC GROWTH DIRECTION WITHIN A COMPLEX-PHASE-FIELD MODEL

摘要
We generalize the standard phase-held model of solidification to accommodate a complex-valued order parameter. This model allows for a direct incorporation of crystalline anisotropy and also allows for a nontrivial dynamical competition between bulk ''bending'' energies of the axes as compared to anisotropic surface energies. We illustrate this by studying a specific case of competing anisotropies; simulations demonstrate the nontrivial spatio-temporal evolution of the dendritic growth direction.
