MECHANISM OF ZINC(II) REDUCTION IN DMSO ON MERCURY

摘要
The kinetics of the electroreduction of Zn2+ have been studied in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) in the presence of different concentrations of tetraethylammonium and tetrabutylaminonium perchlorates (TEAP and TBAP) using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The dependence of the logarithm of the rate constant versus the electrode potential indicate a two step process. Two possible mechanisms are discussed, namely (i) two one-electron reduction processes and (ii) cation transfer through the double layer. © 1990.
