摘要
Spatial distribution of earthquake epicentres is investigated using a multifractal approach involving a whole spectrum of non-integer dimensions of the set under consideration. The multifractal approach allows to analyze not only geometrical characteristics of the spatial distribution but also intensities of seismicity at particular sites (or probabilities of "visiting" particular sites by seismic events). Multifractal characteristics-spectra of dimensions-f(α) and D(q) are calculated for three seismic regions: Pamir, Caucasus and California. The functions f(α) and D(q) contain information about concentration, clustering properties and intermittency of spatial earthquake distribution. © 1990.
