摘要
The topography of the naturally air-grown oxide layer on the Cr(110) surface has been observed in air by scanning tunnelling microscopy. The regularly corrugated structure observed on the Cr(110) surface is found to have a quasi-hexagonal primary pattern with an average corrugation amplitude of 3.0 Å. The observed STM topography is consistent with the existence of an ordered chromium sesquioxide (Cr2O3) layer having the quasi-hexagonal structure of the air-oxidized Cr(110) surface. In addition, an atomic step is observed on this naturally oxidized Cr(110) surface. © 1990.
